EMERGENCY PROTEST MONDAY TELL THE US TO SUPPORT THE RETURN OF HONDURAN PRESIDENT

The democratically-elected President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, was kidnapped and taken to Costa Rica early this morning in a Military Coup by the rightist opposition. The people of Honduras have risen up in protest to demand the return of their president. US President Obama, along with the Organization of American States, has denied any participation by the US in the Coup, and has refused to recognize the legitimacy of self-sworn “president” Michelette. Please come to a protest tomorrow to demand that the US continue to reject the legitimacy of the government put in place by the coup, and to demand that Obama take a stronger stance in demanding the return of democratically-elected President Zelaya.

El Presidente elegido democraticamente de Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, fue secuestrado y llevado a Costa Rica hoy temprano en la manana durante un golpe de estado militar por la oposicion derechista. El pueblo de Honduras se ha levantado en protesta para exigir el regreso de su presidente. El Presidente Obama ha negado la participacion de los EE.UU. y, junto con la Organizacion de los Estados Americanos ha rechazado reconocer la legitimidad del “presidente” auto-declarado Michelette. Vengan por favor a una protesta manana para exigir que los EE.UU. sigue rechazando la legitimidad del gobierno hecho por el golpe de estado, y para exigir que Obama toma una posicion mas fuerte en exigir el regreso del Presidente Zelaya, elegido democraticamente por el pueblo.
The Trade Union Confederation of the Americas (www.csa-csi.org/) has strongly condemned the coup in Honduras and demanded that the democratically elected president returns to power. Trade unionist were asked to send similar requests to the authorities.
