Sheriff Stanek: No More Deportations!
- Stop using Hennepin County jail as a deportation machine!
- Stop cooperating with “Secure Communities”
- Stop honoring ICE detainer requests
There have been over a million deportations in this U.S. in the last 4 years. Most of them now happen in county jails, through programs like “Secure Communities.” Too many of our families have been torn apart. We say enough is enough — no more deportations! We call on Sheriff Stanek to stop using the county jail as a deportation machine. Specifically we call on him to stop honoring ICE detainer requests. If he is unwilling to do so, we call on the Hennepin County Commissioners to override him since they’re in charge of policy for the county jail.
