The fundraiser will include dinner,  a slideshow and reflection on anti-SB1070 actions and organizing across the country.

The RNC 8 are Minneapolis activists who were tried on conspiracy charges for their role in organizing protests at the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul. Their legal case is now resolved, but they continue to organize to support others in the movement.

Nov 6 – 11:00 am – March with CTUL for Justice in Retail Cleaning
On Saturday November 6th at 11 am retail cleaning workers with Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en Lucha (CTUL) and allies will gather at Grace Trinity Community Church (1430 W 28th St Minneapolis, off of Hennepin and 28th St.) then march along Lake St., stopping at locations of Target, SuperValu, and Lunds & Byerly’s and end in a rally announcing the retail store they will be singling out. CTUL is demanding that the stores meet with workers to establish fair wages and working conditions. Join CTUL on this historic march to hold retail giants in the Twin Cities responsible for human rights violations that take place in their stores! More info: http://ctul.net/

Solidarity with anti-war and international solidarity activists

Statement from the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee (MIRAc)

The Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee offers our solidarity with the anti-war movement activists confronted with the abuse committed by the FBI, who raided 7 houses and the Anti-War Committee office in Minneapolis and Chicago on the morning of September 24, 2010 at 7 a.m. The FBI handed out subpoenas for over a dozen activists to appear to testify before a special federal Grand Jury. The FBI also tried to intimidate activists in California, Wisconsin and North Carolina.

We express our solidarity with our brothers and sisters facing this abuse from the federal authorities. As an organization that struggles for immigrant rights and that therefore is confronted daily with raids in our community, we know what these raids mean for our brothers and sisters in the anti-war movement. It’s ridiculous that the US government paints as “terrorists” people who dedicate all their time struggling against war and in support of peace and self-determination for the people of Latin America and the Middle East. These actions by the government are a threat to all social movements.

Our organization joins with the rest of the organizations in one sentiment and clamor for true justice for our brothers and sisters, who simply reject every day unjust wars and invasions that the U.S. government is carrying out all over the world.

So we demand that the US government:

• Stop harassment by the federal authorities against anti-war movement activists
• We demand that they return the possessions that the FBI took from the people’s homes that they raided on September 24.
• We demand and end to the Grand Jury
• We demand that the FBI stop harassment against social organizations
• We demand an end to raids
• Our committee will continue struggling against oppressive raids in solidarity with our brothers and sisters.

In unity there is strength!

Solidaridad con los activistas anti-guerra y del movimiento de solidaridad internacional

Comunicado del Comité por los Derechos de Los Inmigrantes en Minnesota (MIRAc)

El comité por los derechos de los Inmigrantes (MIRAc) manifestamos nuestra solidaridad con los activistas del movimiento anti-guerra, ante el abuso cometido por las autoridades del FBI, que efectuó redadas en 7 casas y la oficina del Comité Anti-Guerra en Minneapolis y Chicago en la mañana del día viernes 24 septiembre 2010, a las 7 am hora central.  El FBI entrego ordenes para que los activistas se presenten a testificar frente un jurado federal especial (“grand jury”), lo cual mas de una docena de activistas en Illinois, Minnesota y Michigan tendrán que parecer ante un juez federal. El FBI también trato de intimidar a activistas en California, Wisconsin y Carolina del Norte.

Nos solidarizamos con nuestros hermanos y hermanas ante este abuso cometido por las autoridades federales. Como organización que lucha por los derechos de los inmigrantes y que nos enfrentamos día a día con redadas en nuestra comunidad sabemos lo que estas redadas significan para nuestros hermanos/as del movimiento anti-guerra. Es una ridiculez que el gobierno estadounidense tilde como ‘terroristas’ a personas que dedican todo su tiempo luchando en contra de la guerra y a favor de la paz y la auto-determinación  de los pueblos latinoamericanos y del medio orienté. Estas acciones del gobierno estadounidense son una amenaza en contra de todos los movimientos sociales.

Nuestra organización se suma al resto de las organizaciones en un solo sentir y clamor por una justicia verdadera para nuestros hermanos y hermanas que lo único que hacen día a día es rechazar las guerras injustas e invasiones que el gobierno de Estados Unidos esta llevando acabo en países alrededor del mundo.

Por lo tanto exigimos al gobierno de los Estados Unidos:

• Un alto al acoso de las autoridades federales en contra de activistas del movimiento anti-guerra.
• Exigimos que regresen las posesiones que el FBI tomo de las personas a cuyas casas hicieron redadas el 24 de septiembre.
• Exigimos un alto al Grand Jury.
• Demandamos al FBI que cese el hostigamiento a organizaciones sociales.
• Demandamos un alto a las redadas.
• Nuestro comité seguirá en pie de lucha en contra de redadas opresivas, en solidaridad con nuestros hermanos y hermanas.

LA UNION HACE LA FUERZA
